Recommendation: |

THAT staff be directed to proceed with acquisition of the property and statutory right-of-way’s for the Comox Valley Water Treatment Project raw water pump station, marine pipeline, and raw water pipeline from the Courtenay and District Fish and Game Protective Association as outlined in the report dated July 6, 2018. |

3) | COMOX LAKE WATERSHED PROTECTION PLAN – EDUCATION AND OUTREACH |

Report dated July 6, 2018 regarding a consulting team has been engaged to assist with developing and implementing an education and outreach program for Comox Lake watershed protection and water conservation in the Comox Valley Water System for receipt. |

1) | WATER TREATMENT PLANT |
|
Correspondence dated July 5, 2018 from Director Eriksson regarding the Comox Valley water treatment plant for receipt. |

Requested Action: |
|
WHEREAS the introduction of the Ultra Violet Filtration has reduced the likelihood of boil water advisories by 80 per cent;
AND WHEREAS there were no boil water advisories this past winter;
AND WHEREAS Island Health has allowed the tolerance level to be temporarily raised;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the board direct staff to review whether the planned water treatment plant is still required;
AND FURTHER THAT if the planned water treatment plant is required, whether or not the size of the facility can be reduced. |
