The purpose of this meeting is for committee members to consider the matters included on the agenda below. The chair of the committee will preside over the meeting according to the CVRD procedure bylaw. This meeting is not meant for general public input. If members of the public wish to speak at a meeting, they should contact the CVRD legislative services department to request to appear as a delegation.

In the event of an emergency the public gathering place is the parking lot outside the boardroom.

E. NEW BUSINESS:
1) REDUCTION OF TRANSPORTATION GREENHOUSE GASES (GHG)
 
Correspondence dated June 4, 2019 from Director Frisch regarding a reduction of transportation greenhouse gases for receipt. [Item

Requested Action:
 
WHEREAS the 2014 Comox Valley Transit Future Plan sets mode share target at three per cent for all trips by 2038; AND

WHEREAS the climate crisis requires aggressive actions to address Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions; AND

WHEREAS approximately 60 per cent of the Comox Valley's GHG emissions come from transportation; AND

WHEREAS improvements to public transit can play a significant role in reducing transportation GHGs;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT more aggressive mode share targets be considered the during the fall 2019 strategic planning session;

AND FINALLY THAT staff and BC Transit be requested to provide preliminary information on strategies to increase ridership, including cost estimates, for consideration by the Comox Valley Regional District.
