Minutes of the Public Hearing held on January 4, 2023 in the Civic Room of the Comox Valley Regional District offices located at 770 Harmston Avenue, Courtenay, BC commencing at 6:00 pm.

RECOGNITION OF TRADITIONAL TERRITORIES
The Chair acknowledged that the meeting was being held on the unceded traditional territory of the K’ómoks First Nation.
 
 
OPENING REMARKS BY THE CHAIR
Chair Grieve read a prepared statement regarding the public hearing procedures.

Three members of the public were in attendance.
 
 
INTRODUCTION OF THE APPLICATION
J. MacLean, Senior Planner, provided a brief description of Bylaw No. 733 being "Rural Comox Valley Zoning Bylaw No. 520, 2019, Amendment No. 10"and read out two comments received from adjacent neighbours.
 
 
The following information was provided for information regarding Bylaw No. 733 being "Rural Comox Valley Zoning Bylaw No. 520, 2019, Amendment No. 10".

WRITTEN SUBMISSIONS RECEIVED
Written submissions received pertaining to zoning bylaw amendment RZ 1C 22 – 7648 Island Highway (Edge Grain Forest Products Ltd.) are attached and form part of these minutes. [Item
 
 
No further written submissions were received during the public hearing.
 
 
PRESENTATION BY APPLICANT
The applicant was provided an opportunity to present information regarding the Rezoning Application RZ 1C 22 – 7648 Island Highway (Edge Grain Forest Products Ltd.) and opted not to speak.
 
 
REPRESENTATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC
Chair Grieve called for speakers regarding Rezoning Application RZ 1C 22 – 7648 Island Highway (Edge Grain Forest Products Ltd.). No speakers came forward.
 
 
QUESTIONS FROM DIRECTORS
In response to a question from Director Hardy regarding limitations relating to the C-1-13 zone, J. MacLean, Senior Planner, confirmed that wood processing will be permitted as a principal use, but activities will be limited to just those needed to support joinery and cabinetry. Chair Grieve further added that the wording to limit wood processing activities was discussed during the Area C APC meeting and staff have reflected the limitations in the bylaw.
 
 
CLOSING REMARKS
Chair Grieve provided closing remarks and called for further submissions, including verbal and written submissions. The Chair reminded those present to submit any written comments to the comment box prior to the termination of the public hearing.
 
 
TERMINATION:
Chair Grieve called a second, third and final time for any further speakers. Hearing no speakers, the Chair declared the public hearing for Bylaw 733 terminated.
